Course material for both Online and Blended Learning students comprises:

• An initial file of printed course material

• Internet downloads available from aptassist

• Videos and/or podcasts which will be available through aptassist

Blended Learning candidates will collect their initial course material at major centres or receive them at the first contact session. Online Learning candidates will be contacted via email regarding course material. Candidates will be notified regarding course material approximately one week before the course commences.

If your firm is paying for your course you may collect your initial course material. If you are paying in your personal capacity we will require proof of payment (settlement in full or the initial deposit if paying in instalments) before you collect your initial course material.

There are no prescribed books as such. As this is a Professional Competence Development Programme, candidates are expected to consult such books as are necessary in the circumstances.Guidance will be provided in the developmental course material and contact sessions.

aptassist is the APT Learning Support website. It is an electronic testing platform which monitors candidates’ individual performance against a specific set of deliverables. We primarily liaise with candidates via this platform. You are therefore required to interact with aptassist regularly. A Guide to aptassist is available in the Global Resources 2017 site and we urge you to familiarise yourself with the platform as soon as you have access.

Your student number is the same as your User ID for aptassist.

APT APC Programme Candidates - Your user profile will be loaded on to the aptassist website mid April 2017 and you will receive an automated EMail to this effect.

Catchup Programme Candidates - Your user profile will be loaded on to the aptassist website mid June 2017 and you will receive an automated EMail to this effect.

You can find this information on aptassist (under the ‘Global Resources’ site). Do not forget to constantly check your course schedule to ensure that you are kept up to date regarding any changes.

These can be found on aptassist under the ‘Global Resources’ site

Candidates are required to attend no less than 75% of contact sessions to pass. Online candidates will have access to video recordings of the classes in order to meet the attendance

You are required to bring your ID document and write your APT student number on the top right corner of your APT Assessment Script.

The SAICA Students Version Handbook and The SAICA Legislative Handbook are allowed into the examination room. Candidates are also allowed to bring one lever arch file containing such other documents as they deem appropriate provided the thickness of the document does not exceed 8cm.

If the distance between the nearest APT venue and your place of residence exceeds 150km, APT is willing to allow candidates to propose a local invigilator for our approval. Candidates may apply for this concession by emailing the following details to administration@apt.co.za: Name of proposed invigilator, qualifications, office telephone, mobile number and physical address (a physical address is mandatory). It would be preferable if your invigilator were a Chartered Accountant, although APT is willing to accept other professionals such as Ministers of Religion and HR Managers. The invigilator cannot be a relative or friend.

APT has sole discretion in the appointment of any such person as an invigilator. Assuming this arrangement is approved, our Admin office will send the necessary assessment paper(s) to the invigilator, per courier, in a sealed package or via email.

PLEASE NOTE: ALL INVIGILATOR COSTS ARE FOR THE CANDIDATE’S ACCOUNT. APT WILL ONLY PAY FOR THE COST TO COURIER THE ASSESSMENT TO THE INVIGILATOR AND COLLECT THE ASSESSMENT FROM THE INVIGILATOR.

It is the candidate’s responsibility to contact APT via email, by the date provided prior to EACH assessment to make these arrangements. If APT does not hear from such candidates, by the stipulated date, it will be recorded that such candidates are to write in a centre where an APT venue has been provided and a 0% mark will be recorded on non-receipt of the script.

Assessment results are generally released on aptassist three weeks after the APT Assessments have been written. All students will be notified when results have been released.

You cannot apply to write Supplementary Assessments, these are awarded at the sole discretion of APT after careful consideration of individual results and circumstances.

If you are unable to write an APT Assessment you should apply, in writing, for a Deferred Assessment. The Deferred Assessment Application Form is available in the Global Resources site. (A candidate, who has an acceptable reason for not sitting for an assessment when scheduled, will be required to write a deferred assessment.

Deferred assessments are granted at the sole discretion of the presenters, who may require written evidence in support of the religious, medical or other grounds provided. Only such reasons as would generally be accepted by University Deferred Examinations Committees will be considered).

If five or more candidates from the SAME firm enrol, these candidates will qualify for a 20% ‘block booking’ discount.

If your firm is responsible for payment we will send an invoice directly to the firm contact provided once all candidates from the firm have registered.

If you are paying for yourself you will be invoiced directly.

IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO CONTACT OUR OFFICES REQUESTING INVOICES AS THEY WILL BE SENT ONCE REGISTRATION HAS BEEN PROCESSED.
